Admissions Policy
Phoenix Polygraph Academy seeks to admit individuals who demonstrate the character, integrity, and qualifications necessary to succeed as professional polygraph examiners. To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
Have no felony convictions
Have no misdemeanor convictions involving dishonesty or ethical misconduct
Provide favorable personal and/or professional references attesting to character and suitability
Be eligible to obtain polygraph licensure or certification in the jurisdiction(s) where they intend to practice
All applicants are subject to a background review process. Phoenix Polygraph Academy reserves the right to require a formal criminal background check and to consider any findings in determining an applicant’s eligibility for admission.
Applicants are solely responsible for researching and understanding the licensing, certification, and regulatory requirements applicable in their intended area(s) of practice prior to enrollment.
Phoenix Polygraph Academy reserves the right to evaluate each applicant’s qualifications and background to ensure alignment with professional standards and program expectations.
Tuition and Refund Policy
You may register for the basic, advanced, and PCSOT courses without paying the tuition at the time of registration. Course fees are due prior to the beginning of the course unless other arrangements have been made through the Academy. Your spot in the course is not guaranteed until full payment is received or other arrangements have been made. As the course gets close to full capacity, those that have not yet paid will receive a courtesy reminder to pay for the course at that time or risk being moved to the waitlist. The tuition includes all course materials, supplies, and use of equipment and polygraph instrumentation. Scheduled courses are subject to cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. If a course is cancelled for any reason, or if the student is unable to attend the course, any money received by the Academy will be refunded. If, however, a student is dismissed or if the student resigns from the course for any reason, a refund will be issued according to the scale below. Any paid registrations that are cancelled by the student/ agency/government are subject to a transactional cancellation fee, up to 4% of the cost of tuition.
Student Conduct Policy
Phoenix Polygraph Academy is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful, and academically rigorous learning environment. All students are expected to adhere to the following standards:
Professional Conduct
Students shall treat instructors, staff, and fellow students with respect at all times.
A positive and professional learning environment is required; disruptive behavior, hostility, or persistent negativity will not be tolerated.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the ethical standards of the polygraph profession.
Academic Progress and Graduation Policy
Students must successfully complete all required assignments, assessments, practical exercises, and examinations.
A minimum score of 75% or higher is required on all quizzes, assignments, assessments and the final examination to successfully complete the program.
If a student fails to meet the requirement of 75% during the academic progress, the student will be allowed one opportunity to pass an exam/assessment. If the student fails the second opportunity, the student will be dismissed from the course.
Students are responsible for maintaining satisfactory academic progress throughout the course.
Academic Integrity
Cheating, plagiarism, falsification of work, or any form of academic dishonesty is strictly prohibited.
Any violation of academic integrity may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the program.
Attendance Policy
100% attendance is required for successful completion of the program.
Students are expected to be present for all scheduled classroom and practical training sessions.
In the event of an emergency, any missed time must be made up. Students will be required to complete both the missed classroom hours and all associated coursework to the satisfaction of the program.
Failure to meet attendance requirements or complete required make-up work by the end of the course may result in dismissal from the program.
Dismissal Policy
Students must comply with all program policies, procedures, and instructor directives during the course.
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in corrective action, including dismissal at the discretion of Phoenix Polygraph Academy.
Phoenix Polygraph Academy reserves the right to enforce these standards to ensure the integrity of the program and the professionalism of its graduates.
Re-Admission Policy
In the event that a student is unable to complete a basic polygraph examiner course, readmission in a subsequent course may be available. In order for a student to be readmitted into a course, the student must provide a letter explaining the reason for the re-admission and the actions taken by the student to prevent the same circumstances that resulted in dismissal or resignation from the course. Re-admission is at the sole discretion of the Director and is determined on a case-to-case basis.
Complaint Procedures
Phoenix Polygraph Academy is committed to maintaining a professional and responsive learning environment. Students are encouraged to address concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
Submission of Complaints
All complaints must be submitted in writing to the Program Director.
Complaints must be filed within thirty (30) days of the date of the incident giving rise to the complaint.
Written complaints should include a detailed description of the concern, including relevant dates, individuals involved, and any supporting information.
Review Process
Upon receipt, the Program Director will review the complaint and may request additional information as needed.
The Program Director will evaluate the matter in accordance with program policies and may conduct further inquiry if appropriate.
Resolution
A written response or determination will be provided within a reasonable timeframe.
Decisions made by the Program Director are considered final unless otherwise required by applicable regulations or accreditation standards.
Phoenix Polygraph Academy encourages professional communication and good-faith resolution of concerns to support a positive educational environment.
Student Dress Code
Phoenix Polygraph Academy maintains a professional learning environment that reflects the standards of the polygraph profession. Students are required to adhere to a business casual dress code at all times while attending class and participating in training activities.
General Standards
Attire must be clean, properly fitted, and appropriate for a professional setting.
Clothing should reflect professionalism consistent with the expectations of the polygraph field.
Specific Requirements
Skirts and dresses are discouraged due to the nature of the polygraph examination process. If worn, they must be no shorter than two (2) inches above the knee.
Shorts, crop tops, and clothing that exposes the midriff or cleavage are not permitted.
Shoulders must be covered at all times. Clothing such as muscle shirts, spaghetti straps, tank tops, halter tops, workout clothing and similar garments are not acceptable.
Jeans are acceptable, provided they are clean and free from rips, fraying, or “distressed” detailing.
Clothing that is unclean, ripped, torn, frayed, or excessively tight or loose is not permitted.
Class Photo Attire
A class photo will be taken toward the end of the course. For this occasion, dress attire is required:
Men: Long-sleeved, collared shirts, ties, and slacks
Women: Professional dress attire of their choosing
Compliance
Students are expected to comply with the dress code at all times. Phoenix Polygraph Academy reserves the right to address attire that does not meet these standards and may require corrective action before participation in class activities.
Professional Associations
At Phoenix, we encourage our Alumni to participate in state, national, and international polygraph associations. Graduation from an APA accredited program is only one requirement for APA membership. Therefore, graduation from the program does not guarantee acceptance into the APA or any other professional organization.
